Carrying a small hand-bag and equipped with an earphone, Epiphany, a secret agent, enters room 117 at the The Three Kings Hotel in Basel. This is the very room where, Theodor Herzl, the visionary of the Jewish State, stayed during the first zionist congress 130 years ago, and on whose balcony his famous photo was taken. After inspecting the room and executing some preparative actions, she waits. For a phone call? for the right moment? for a revelation?
"Epiphany On Vacation" is the encounter of a realized fantasy with its fantasmatic origin. An encounter of the real with itself as a mere possibility. It is part of Effi & Amir's preoccupation with the birth of the Jewish state, and with the tension between an Idea and the attempts to concretize it.
