A kilo for a kilo

an interactive and participatory campaign

A Kilo For A Kilo is an interactive nomad project which takes the form of a campaign for collecting physical energy in the purpose of removing the separation wall built by Israel in the West bank.

Faithful to the middle-eastern approach that favours actions over negotiations, and the extensive usage of force as a political tool, A Kilo For A Kilo allows people around the world to actually take action by donating their physical force.

A Kilo For A Kilo is a traveling and adjustable donation post, that would be installed each time in a different place, inviting the public to participate by performing a donation. The donation is executed using a “pushing machine”, especially designed for this purpose. The pushing action will be measured and translated to kilos, the amount of kilos pushed represents the donation's value. Every kilo donated will be considered as a kilo removed from the wall. The donations will be accumulated until obtaining the goal: the total weight of the wall, meaning its elimination.

The donors, as well as everybody else, would be able to follow the progress of the campaign at any moment through a dedicated web site, containing a data base of all the donations and donors as well as all a graphic real-time simulation of the removal process. Far more than a trace, the website is the necessary processor that gives shape and sense to the “off line” part of the project.
